All Blacks - Explainer Video

The challenge was to create a explainer video to entice NFL junkies to tune in to rugby, using humour and simpler terms.
Inspiration - Sketches & Storyboards
The script was inspired by All Blacks videos on Amazon Prime, making sure that the emotional and rugged feel was captured, but also incorporating the humor the client wanted. The episodes lead to a better understanding of technical terms and gameplay, which helps in simplifying it for the NFL audience.
Animating the gameplay
The style frames of the flat 2d vectors and characters were made in Illustrator, incorporating the 3 brand colors, purple, green, and black. Assets from their brand guideline, like grain and scribbles, were also animated. The All Blacks characters were rigged using DUIK, which controls the joints and makes the run and tackle movements more realistic.
